Medical web passport for access to closed websites

Medi-Access® is an on-line authorisation system for medical professionals (physicians, pharmacists, paramedics). Care providers can apply for a Medi-Access web passport so that, with one user name/password combination, they can gain access to all closed websites that make use of Medi-Access. Care providers can apply and will receive their Medi-Access web passport by e-mail after a check with the BIG-register. Currently, Dutch physicians are already making active use of their Medi-Access web passport.

Medi-Access: user-friendliness for medical professionals
Care providers only have to follow the application procedure once. Once the data have been entered on the website they are memorized in a ‘cookie’ and users only have to click on ‘OK’ in order to gain access to a closed website. If one has lost one’s login code it can be reapplied on line.

Medi-Access for organisations and associations
A big advantage of Medi-Access for organisations that are active in the medical sector is that the administrative burden of inlog problems on the websites and changes in (e-mail) addresses are taken over by E-WISE at a subscription rate. Medi-Access can also be linked to a membership list so that automatic access to a closed part of a website can be granted for example to members of an association.

Medi-Access for pharmaceutical companies
Pharmaceutical companies with websites that are aimed at medical professionals are legally liable to protect this website sufficiently from the general public. Medi-Access offers the visitor ease of use so that barriers to visit websites of pharmaceutical companies are removed. Medi-Access has been approved for the use for websites of pharmaceutical companies by the Ministry of Health – Inspection of Pharma Advertising.
